“Memorias Híbridas” was a three-month laboratory where
participants gathered to share and explore various stories,
legends, and real-life experiences. The first sessions involved
exchanging a rich tapestry of narratives, including: La Llorona, Mama Rola or Mama Ghoula, Yemanjá, La Pincoya, Santa Eulalia, Mari de Anboto, Aisha Kandisha, La Cacica de Guatavita, El Trauco, El diablo del baño, El Silbón, Joha his son and the donkey, the Mohan, the Habs Qara prison, etc…
During the sessions, we also shared real stories like those of Ndatte Yalla, La Malinche or La Vampira del Raval as well as personal stories related to shame, resistance, racism, patriarchy, etc.
In subsequent sessions, we worked orally and collectively to
build new fictional stories about the city we inhabit. Stories that
we need, stories that could take care of us, stories that could
protect us or make us stronger, more visible and free.
After three months of working together, we created eight fantastical legends set in the past, present, and speculative future
of Barcelona, each incorporating different elements or symbols
of the city. Read the synopsis here (PDF).
“Hybrid Memories” was realized thanks to a grant from the institute of culture of Barcelona with the support of La Bonne.
